.signing.
Have you ever been in total silence? Imagine having a tranquil life ever since the day you were born; how would it be if your days are filled with stillness and peace; can you live with that?
2 months ago when exams are near, Dimpley asked me whether I would like to join Sign Language class. It puzzled me for a while, but it struck me; "Why not?" So, casually I said yes. Soon after exams were over, here come Dimpley with his enthusiasm. "Hey Gil, come, let's go for sign language!" I was quite reluctant at the start, but I went since I've nothing better to do during the holidays. Now that we've been through the classes for a month, guess what, my perception towards the entire idea of learning to sign transformed. Yea, a huge one. I didn't know I'll have that much of interest in signing. It was more than mere fun. I start to appreciate the purpose of signing, and what will I want to do with it in future, and of course, how would it play a role in my career. Trust me, the association will be useful. Despite it being quite cool at times when Dimpley and I sign randomly in shopping malls (practising), having puzzled passer-by thinking we're a deaf & dumb couple (we did baffle one or two but we enjoyed); deaf events have opened up a new world to me. The culture that they have made me felt like a total stranger in their community, I felt like an outsider; where ironically to some people, the deaf have always been an outcast to the hearing society. Well, credit should be given to the advance technology that has filled the gap between the unspeakable with those who can, I'm impressed by the aptitude of the deaf youth, they're not even in their 20s! To be honest, they appear to be much reliable than some of those whose capability are put to waste. They are certainly an august group where soon one day, they'll be someone. Not only it being an eye-opener, I'll say that there'll be no regrets for participating. Signing rocks! =)
Dimpley and his gift for signing =) yeay!
